The discount calculator applies one percentage reduction to a non-negative original price. It displays both the reduced price and the saving.
When to use this tool
- Check a sale price before purchasing.
- Compare the saving produced by a listed percentage discount.
How to use
- Enter the original price.
- Enter a discount rate from 0 to 100.
- Review the final price and saving.
Example
Fifteen percent off
An original price of 100 with a 15% discount returns a final price of 85 and a saving of 15.
How it works
- Final price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100); saving = original price × discount ÷ 100.
Limits and notes
- The calculator does not add tax, shipping, fees, coupons, tiered discounts, or currency conversion.
- Results are numeric references and not financial advice or a retailer quote.
Frequently asked questions
Can the discount exceed 100%?
No. Rates below 0 or above 100 are rejected.
Does it know my currency?
No. Values are unitless, so use the same currency for the original price and result.
